Many have asked how I came up with the idea of 'The Groom Room'. The answer lies in my fond memories of going to the classic barber shops for a hair cut with my father. I keenly remember the sights and smells of the Barbershop and the real experience of being a boy amongst men. It was a place that we could go together and do more than get a hair cut. It was a place that made lasting memories.
I haven't got a son yet but I have spent a lot of time looking for a barber shop that would allow me to carry on those great memories and eventually if I do have a son I can allow him to share the great experiences that I shared with my father.
So, as a result of this I decided to get involved in the industry and to start of a barbershop where I could help men create their own experiences that they would never forget. This proved to be a challenge, as I had graduated from University with a Business Management degree and had a good background knowledge on barbering but had not been involved in the industry for too long, so, off I went. On November the 18th 2010 we opened our first 'Groom Room' traditional barbers and we have given hundreds of hair cuts to men and their sons since.
It is my goal to provide a first-class barber shop experience at a reasonable price. If we do our job right then you too will get more than a hair cut and a shave, the experience will be memorable. I sincerely hope that the barber shop experience at 'The Groom Room' is something that you and your son remember for a long time.

Guys are becoming more conscious these days about their appearance and there are more male personal grooming products on the market than ever. If you are new to the male grooming scene or if you just want to know more about how to keep yourself looking young and in tip top condition, here are some tips to get you started.
Fancy a new style? Don't expect to get there in one cut. Some looks have to develop in stages, so plan ahead if you want a change of image for a special occasion.
Hair cuts every 4-5 weeks will keep that groomed look in tact, not grown out.
You spend lots of time trying to get the hair on your head looking just right. Every thought about the shampoo and conditioner you are putting on it?
First impressions are important and your face is where people make their initial assumptions about what kind of a person you are.
It's best to avoid shaving the very first thing in the morning. If possible, let your skin wake up. This allows any puffiness from fluids collecting in your skin during the night to recede. Then you will be able to get a closer shave.
The technical term for this condition is pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB) and the primary cause is shaving with a blade. Men with curly, coarse or even fine hair often experience razor burn or razor bumps after shaving because the hair curls back, punctures the skin and becomes ingrown. You could eliminate the problem by simply growing a beard or rarely shaving. But of course you many not want to do this and unfortunately, for many professional men this is not an option. Here are some tips to help you recover from razor burn:
It's an unfortunate reality for men, but they generally start noticing hair begins to sprout from their ears and nose as they age and the chances of them emerging and multiplying increase as you get older. The purpose of this hair is to act as a barrier to prevent unwanted dirt from entering your ears and nose-just as your eye lashes protect your eyes. Remember, your ear and nose hair has always been there, it has only changed its growth pattern over time as a result of hormonal changes in your body. Some hair experts link this growth to the male hormone DHT (dihydrotestosterone), although the exact relationship of DHT to nose and ear hair growth is still unclear. The best way to deal with it is to get yourself a good quality hair trimmer. Hair trimmers work in two different ways. Some trimmers feature a rotating blade that spins in one continuous direction, while other trimmers work with an oscillating blade that rotates from left to right. Both types work extremely well.
